WIPL is so far the second most expensive sports league after the airing rights was bought by Viacom 18 for a whopping sum of Rs. 951 crore. With a fixed price of Rs.7.09 crore per game, the Women's IPL surpassed the Men's IPL as the most expensive property.
The WIPL will have a total of five teams. The league will consist of 5 overseas players in the team line up unlike the men’s IPL of four international players. According to reports the prize fund for the WIPL players will be Rs. 10 crore. The BCCI has set a salary cap of Rs.12 crore for the Women's Indian Premier League . The fund will grow by INR 1.5 crore per year for the next four years, making it Rs18 crore by 2027.
