In a surprising turn of events, a 29-year-old woman has landed in trouble after allegedly making a hoax call to the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) helpline to stop her boyfriend from flying to Mumbai, reported ToI.

Police had initially registered the incident, which took place on June 26, as a non-cognizable register (NCR). On Wednesday, cops changed it to an FIR under IPC Section 505(1)(B) (statements conducing to public mischief).

The accused, Indra Rajwar, is from Pune and works in Bengaluru.

What was mentioned in the complaint?
According to a complaint filed with KIA police, a woman contacted the airport helpline, alleging that her boyfriend, Mir Raza Mehdi, who was traveling from Bengaluru to Mumbai, had a bomb in his bag. Upon locating Mehdi at the airport, authorities conducted a thorough frisking and checked for explosives, but found nothing incriminating. The incident was classified as a non-specific call. Officials also discovered that the woman, identified as Rajwar, was present at the airport. Both individuals had tickets booked for Mumbai on different flights and had been seen conversing in the departure lounge before Rajwar made the call to the helpline.

The officials detained Rajwar and took her to KIA police station, where she said she and Mehdi had some differences. He was flying to Mumbai and she wanted to stop him. So she made the call to the helpline in an attempt to stop him flying, an officer said.

“We’ll summon her further for interrogation and file a report in court. Both Rajwar and Mehdi are working in the city,” the cop added.
