A shocking case has emerged from Uttar Pradesh where a 30 year old woman poisoned her own children before consuming it herself. According to a TOI report she took the extreme step after her husband denied her money to buy ‘gutka’.

The horrific incident took place in UP’s Chitrakoot district.

The police told TOI that her husband tried to convince her to stop eating gutka, especially in front of their young children who might be easily influenced by her habit. This led to a fight between the couple and after which she took the extreme step.

The woman and two of her daughters, aged two and four, have died during the treatment and the couple’s five year old son is battling for life in neighbouring Satna district hospital in Madhya Pradesh.

The incharge of police outpost at Satna district hospital, Kamlesh Sen told TOI that a case of unnatural death has been registered and the case diary will now be sent to the concerned police station in UP for further investigation.

Police are trying to find out the poison that the woman used and how she was able to obtain it.
