Police constable Ranga Swamy waded into the swift waters of the Tungabhadra river and carried the body of an unidentified woman across nearly a kilometre of rocky terrain to bring it to the riverbank in Andhra Pradesh’s Kurnool district. The constable undertook the recovery in the Mantralayam region, where sharp rocks and hazardous conditions made access to the body difficult.

The incident came to light after the woman’s body was spotted in the river. With the surrounding terrain posing significant risks to anyone attempting the recovery, no one stepped forward to retrieve it. Ranga Swamy then entered the river and recovered the body himself.

After lifting the body onto his shoulders, the constable made his way along a treacherous, rock-strewn route for nearly a kilometre before reaching the riverbank. His actions brought the body out of the hazardous location despite the challenging conditions.
