A 23-year-old woman Naxal operative from Jharkhand, who had been living in Delhi under a false identity, was arrested in Pitampura, Delhi Police said on Wednesday. She had been working as a domestic helper in Noida and different areas of Delhi since 2020, as per a PTI report.

Wanted in Multiple Cases

Originally from Kudaburu village in West Singhbhum, Jharkhand, she was wanted in several police cases, including encounters. She had been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Arms Act, the Explosives Act, and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. A court in Jharkhand had issued a non-bailable warrant against her on 26 March 2023.

Secret Life in Delhi

After reaching Delhi in 2020, she assumed a false identity and took up work as a domestic helper. Over time, she settled in Pitampura. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Vikram Singh, the crime branch gathered intelligence and conducted months of surveillance before acting on credible information about a Maoist extremist hiding in the National Capital Region (NCR).

On 4 March, the police team raided Maharana Pratap Enclave in Pitampura and arrested her.

Recruited at Age 10

Born into a farming family, she was recruited into the CPI (Maoist) faction when she was just 10 years old. She underwent five years of rigorous training in Jharkhand’s Kolhan forest under the guidance of a commander named Ramesh. Her training included handling advanced weapons such as INSAS rifles, SLRs, LMGs, hand grenades, and .303 rifles.

Between 2018 and 2020, she was actively involved in three armed clashes with Jharkhand Police—first in Kolhan (2018), then in Porahat (2019), and later in Sonua (2020). After these incidents, her commanders instructed her to shift to Delhi, the DCP said.

Facing Serious Charges

Several FIRs were lodged against her at Sonua Police Station in Jharkhand under charges of criminal conspiracy, attempt to murder, and waging war against the state.

She will be presented in court for further legal proceedings.
