Woman thrashes Zomato delivery agent with footwear, netizens call for action

A woman can be seen hitting a Zomato delivery agent with her footwear in a video that has gone viral, causing a severe backlash on Twitter.

The video does not say when and where this happened, or what provoked the assault, but it appears the executive was on his way to deliver an order. The video clip did not come with natural audio.



The video was earlier posted by a Twitter user named dj. He said that the clip was recorded by one of the bystanders. The caption read, "Some woman took the order from him and started hitting him with her footwear."

He also added that the delivery agent was terrified that he would lose his job.

The user said on Twitter that he tried calling customer care but they weren't helpful. He further added, "I told them that "I don't care about the order, your partner got assaulted, please help him", but they asked me to tell the rider to contact rider support.

He said the delivery partner tried that, and that they didn't understand Kannada. Later, he said, he deleted the original on the request of the delivery partner.

User dj also informed that the delivery agent is willing to connect with journalists.

Netizens also called upon Zomato to look into this matter.

One Twitterati wrote, "How can you see your delivery boys being harassed and beaten mercilessly? They are your companies major stakeholders and representatives. When will you take legal action against the culprit? Don't act irresponsible and insensible."
