Woman gets six times salary hike in 5 years, shares one key career tip that helped her to increase pay from Rs 5 LPA to Rs 30 Lakh

When people switch jobs and companies there are majorly two reasons behind it. First new and better opportunities and the second is for better pay. Now a woman has posted on social media how her salary when she started was 5LPA and how after 5 years it almost is more than 6x.

A woman named Shrasti Chaudhary shared the video captioning “From 5LPA as a fresher to almost 6x in 5 years.”

She Worked At Four Companies In Five Years

She shared details of her five-year career journey on Instagram, explaining how moving between four companies helped her significantly increase her salary.

She also addressed the commonly given advice to stay with one employer for a longer period, saying her own experience showed that switching jobs can sometimes lead to faster salary growth.

“I started with Rs 5 LPA, the typical fresher's package. Today, I'm at almost 6X growth in 5 years. This didn't happen through 10% appraisals. With my first job switch, my salary doubled, a 100% hike. After that, every switch gave me a 30% to 50% jump. Once, I even received an appraisal within the same company,” she said.

‘Your CV Will Look Bad’: What She Was Told About Job Switching

Chaudhary said she frequently heard concerns that changing companies too often could negatively affect her resume.

“5 years, 4 companies, almost 6X growth. People used to say, 'Your CV will look bad, stay loyal.' If I had listened to them, I would still be stuck in that same salary range today. At every switch, I was asked, 'Why so many switches?' I said, 'I wanted growth.' And I still got the offer,” she added.

Why She Says Employees Should Check The Market

According to Chaudhary, career growth is not only about changing companies. She believes professionals should also understand how their skills are valued in the current job market.

She suggested that employees periodically assess market salaries even when they have no immediate plans to leave their existing jobs.

“Internally, companies look at your previous salary. Externally, the market values you based on current market rates. That's why every 1.5 to 2 years, you should check the market and interview, even if you don't plan on switching. Whether you are underpaid or not won't come from a feeling; it comes from data. Switching jobs isn't just company hopping; it's growth,” she said.

Interviews Can Help Assess Salary Levels

Chaudhary said appearing for interviews can give professionals a better understanding of what companies are currently offering for their skills and experience.

According to her, this can help employees determine whether their current compensation is broadly aligned with prevailing market rates, rather than relying only on assumptions about their salary.

Social Media Reactions

Her post also drew reactions from social media users. One user wrote, "Impressive growth." Another person said, "Never get too comfortable."
