When she tried to save her son, the tiger attacked her too. Hearing the commotion from the forest, some villagers reached the spot and chased away the tiger, who fled into the forest leaving the child behind.
Showing exemplary courage, a woman in Madhya Pradesh saved her 15-month-old son from the jaws of a tiger in Umaria district's of Madhya Pradesh. The area falls under Mala beat of the Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve.

According to the local reports, officials are trying to trace the tiger to take corrective actions to ensure the safety of people living in forest areas. The woman, Archana Choudhary, said she took her son Raviraj to a field to answer nature's call when the tiger attacked him.

When she tried to save her son, the tiger attacked her too. Hearing the commotion from the forest, some villagers reached the spot and chased away the tiger, who fled into the forest leaving the child behind.


The lady has received injuries on waist, hand and back while the son has got head and back injuries.

The woman and her son were taken to a health centre in Manpur and later to the district hospital in Umaria for treatment, forest guard Ram Singh Marko said.
