Woman bathes dog at Haridwar ghat, video goes viral
A woman bathing her pet dog in the Ganga at Haridwar's Sarvanand Ghat has caused a stir. Priests and locals objected, citing the river's sanctity. The woman argued with those present. A video of the incident went viral, drawing mixed reactions onl...

The incident reportedly took place at Sarvanand Ghat, where the woman continued bathing her dog in the river even as people repeatedly urged her not to. Priests at the ghat raised objections, citing the religious sanctity of the Ganga and asking her to refrain from such an act. However, the woman ignored their concerns and carried on.
As the situation escalated, a crowd gathered at the spot and the argument continued for some time. The man accompanying her made several attempts to intervene, but she persisted. After a prolonged exchange, the woman and the man eventually left the ghat with the dog.
Ganga Sabha secretary Ujjwal Pandit later issued a statement, saying that while people express deep faith in the Ganga, some fail to respect local sentiments even when requested to stop.
The video has triggered mixed reactions online. Sharing the clip, one X user wrote, “A so-called pet lover, claiming to be working with some ministry, wants to bathe her dog at the same ghat in Haridwar where people are bathing. What kind of stupidity is this?”
Another wrote, “Have humans patented nature? On one hand we worship animals, on the other this hypocrisy. Is the Ganga only for humans? It’s a flowing river, not stagnant water.”
Some also questioned why practices like dumping milk or garbage into the river are tolerated, while bathing a dog draws outrage.
