According to the victim, she was locked in a room with the snake, which eventually bit her. Despite her repeated pleas for help, no one responded. She then managed to contact her elder sister, who rescued her and took her to Government Ursala Hospital.
Police inspector Vineet Kumar from Colonel Ganj confirmed to TOI that a case has been registered against seven individuals, including the woman's husband. Doctors treating her told TOI, "Her condition is stable but serious." She is currently undergoing anti-venom treatment.
The victim’s sister, a resident of Chaman Ganj, stated that the woman was married in March 2021. Soon after, her husband and in-laws allegedly began pressuring her for a dowry of Rs 5 lakh and even attempted to strangle her on several occasions.
The family reportedly provided Rs 1.5 lakh when the in-laws demanded money to construct a room. However, after they asked for additional funds and the woman’s parents refused, her husband and his parents allegedly forced her to sleep alone and took her daughter away. The next morning, she was locked in the room with a snake.
