Will just push a button, it is so simple, says Chetan Dutta on demolishing Supertech Twin Towers

The twin towers - one known as Apex has 32 storeys and the other Ceyane has 29 stories. It is expected that the demolition will leave approximately 35K cubic metres of debris and it will be mammoth task to clear this debris which will take months.

Chetan Dutta, who will press the button to demolish Supertech Twin Towers in Sector 93A, Noida on August 28, said the blast will be just a simple process.

He said, "It's a simple process; we generate current from the dynamo and then press the button which will ignite the detonators in all shock tubes within 9 seconds."

"We'll be almost 50-70m away from the building, there will be no danger and we are very much sure that the building will collapse in a proper way... blasting area is covered with four layers of iron mesh and two layers of blanket, so no rubble will fly past but dust may," he added.


The towers will be demolished at 2.30 PM on 28 August.

Explosives will be used to demolish the towers for which the Supreme Court has already given the clearance.

Initially the demolition was supposed to start on 21 August but later the Apex court extended the date to 28 August.

It is alleged that the towers were built by overlooking building norms and that is why they are being razed. The Supreme Court in its order said there was "nefarious complicity" between the Noida Authority and Supertech and instructed the company to demolish the towers at its own expense.

Noida Authority and the Central Building Research Institute will supervise the demolition.

The Apex Court also ordered the company to refund the money to apartment buyers.
