With temperatures shooting up across Europe this summer, Spain's PM Pedro Sanchez has offered office workers a solution: ditch the ties.
Prime Minister Sanchez made this suggestion at a news conference in Madrid. He then pointed to his open neck shirt, grinned broadly, and said: "I would like you to see that I am not wearing a tie."
Given Spain's hot climate, what he said would have made sense to a lot of people there. Sanchez also listed another advantage this move would have - people who feel more comfortable would use less energy in air conditioning.
"This means that we can all save energy," AFP quoted Sanchez as saying.
Spain is set to adopt several energy measures this week. Already, the country encourages remote work and limits the use of air conditioners in offices in summer.
