Why Indian govt is tweeting 'what's wrong with India?'

A viral tweet from MyGovIndia highlighting India's achievements caught attention of netizens. Israeli diplomats also joined the conversation praising India's success in lunar exploration, culinary diversity, and tourism destinations.

Earlier this week, a tweet from Indian governments through MyGovIndia went viral on X.

The tweet with text - What's wrong with India? - has so far got 2 million views. The tweet highlighted India's recent accomplishments, including the eradication of extreme poverty, the lunar landing achievement, recognition for economic growth from the IMF chief, and advancements in digital infrastructure.

MyGovIndia came out with the innovative tweet following a negative portrayal of India in the aftermath of the horrific gang-rape of a Spanish tourist in Jharkhand's Dumka. After the horrific incident, a social media campaign titled 'What's wrong with India' took Twitter by storm with over 2.5 lakh posts with the same phrase, but with a constructive twist. The momentum of this trend caught the attention of MyGovIndia, the Government of India's citizen engagement portal, which also highlighted India's achievements.

Meanwhile, the Israeli embassy in India joined the conversation by posting a video featuring the Israeli ambassador to India, Naor Gilon, and other diplomats addressing the question 'What's wrong with India'? Ambassador Gilon emphasized India's recent success in lunar exploration by humorously comparing it to Israel's moon landing. The diplomats also praised India's diverse culinary offerings, rich musical heritage, and plethora of tourist destinations.
