Why are parents worried over NTA's decision to conduct CUET accountancy re-test
Parents are upset over NTA's decision to re-conduct the CUET-UG 2025 accountancy exam due to syllabus discrepancies, particularly regarding Unit V. Despite prior assurances of an optional component, the exam included mandatory questions from that ...

The NTA has revised the structure of the accountancy test following complaints that some questions fell outside the prescribed syllabus. From May 22 onwards, students will have the option to either attempt questions from Unit V or skip it altogether, while questions from Units I to IV will remain unchanged.
Parents said they had flagged discrepancies in the syllabus—specifically in Unit V—to the NTA helpdesk as early as April, but were told that “whatever is written in the syllabus is correct.” The re-test decision has sparked frustration, with parents questioning why their earlier concerns were dismissed.
In a notice on Monday, the agency said: "NTA is committed to conducting fair and transparent examinations. Students who appeared from May 13 to 16 will be given a chance to rewrite the paper, should they wish to." Specific queries sent to NTA officials went unanswered. "NTA published a syllabus for accountancy clearly mentioning that Unit V could be replaced with a computerised accounting system as an optional component. I called NTA and asked them, and they said there is an option. But in the admission brochure, they've clearly mentioned there are no options among the 50 questions that are going to be asked. So how is this option going to manifest itself in the exam?" asked a parent, adding that after escalating the call to a supervisor, he was assured, "There will be an option. Don't worry."
The issue has sparked a heated debate on social media. One user suggested NTA might now choose to drop the ‘controversial' question entirely.
