India vs England match result

India won the first match of the series taking a lead of 1-0.

England’s strong start undone by collapse

England began confidently, racing to 61 without loss. However, India’s bowlers turned the game on its head with a sudden collapse that saw the hosts slump to 80/5.

Despite the setback, Joe Root anchored the innings with a composed unbeaten 76, while Liam Dawson contributed a valuable 68. Their 111-run partnership revived England’s hopes and guided them to a total of 258 before being bowled out.

Axar Patel leads India’s bowling charge

Axar Patel played a crucial role with the ball, dismantling England’s batting lineup with figures of 4/62. His timely breakthroughs proved decisive in halting England’s progress and shifting the momentum firmly in India’s favor.

Shubman Gill anchors India’s chase

India’s chase was built on a solid foundation laid by captain Shubman Gill, who scored a fluent 80 before retiring hurt due to cramps. His innings ensured India remained in control for the majority of the pursuit.

Axar and Sundar seal the win

India briefly lost momentum after slipping to 160/4, giving England a glimmer of hope. However, Axar Patel and Washington Sundar combined to shut the door on the hosts.

The duo put together an unbeaten 102-run partnership, with Axar finishing on 57* and Sundar on 52*, guiding India to victory with 28 balls to spare.

With this win, India take a 1–0 lead and gain early momentum in the ODI series. England, on the other hand, will look to bounce back in the next match and level the contest. The next match between the two teams will be on 16th July.
