Who was Sunil Motilal Sadarangani, Pune entrepreneur who died by suicide after jumping from 17th floor

A 59-year-old Pune-based entrepreneur, Sunil Motilal Sadarangani, owner of the well-known Multani Bakery, died by suicide on Thursday afternoon after jumping from the 17th floor of a residential building in Solapur.

The incident occurred around 4 pm at the Panas Apartment complex on Vizapur Road. According to reports, Sadarangani was seen wandering near the edge of the 17th floor terrace, prompting residents to alert the building’s watchman. The watchman and an office employee approached him and managed to escort him down to the 10th floor in an attempt to calm him.

However, Sadarangani reportedly said he had lost his car keys and suddenly ran back to the 17th floor. Moments later, he jumped from the building. Some residents recorded videos of the incident, including footage showing him praying shortly before the fall.


Police rushed to the spot after receiving information and found him critically injured on the ground. He was taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance, where doctors declared him dead due to severe injuries. His identity was confirmed through the registration number of his car parked near the building.

Sadarangani had reportedly moved from Solapur to Pune several years ago and was reportedly under significant stress in recent days.

While the exact reason behind his distress is not yet known, police believe personal pressures may have played a role. A case has been registered at the Civil Police Station, and officials are reviewing CCTV footage and speaking to residents and family members as part of the investigation. His death has come as a shock to many, especially in Solapur, where Multani Bakery has been a longstanding and familiar name.
