Who was Ramakant Daayama? Veteran actor from Chak De! India passes away

The entertainment industry mourned the loss of veteran actor Ramakant Daayama, who passed away on May 26. Over the course of a distinguished career spanning films, television and theatre, he earned admiration for his versatility and commanding screen presence.

Actress Shubhangi Latkar, who shared a close bond with the late actor, took to social media to pay a heartfelt tribute to Daayama. Sharing a cherished video from a gathering, she remembered him as a lively, warm and inspiring person. In the clip, he could be seen singing, dancing and spreading joy among everyone present.

In her emotional note, Latkar said his sudden demise had left her speechless. She described Daayama as much more than a friend — someone she deeply admired and respected. Remembering his vibrant personality, she praised his limitless energy, graceful dancing skills, soulful singing voice and remarkable acting talent, adding that his words always carried wisdom and depth.


Latkar also admired his courage and spirit, saying that despite his small physical frame, he possessed immense inner strength. She revealed that the two had planned to collaborate on a Hindi stage play and jointly perform poetry, dreams that remained unfulfilled after his untimely death.

The Cine & TV Artistes' Association (CINTAA) also condoled his demise, remembering him as a respected former Executive Committee member. In its condolence message, the association acknowledged his dedication, wisdom and valuable contributions to the artist community.

Apart from his professional accomplishments, Ramakant Daayama was also the proud father of actress and influencer Yashaswini Dayama. His body of work — ranging from films like Chak De! India and Dhanak to numerous acclaimed theatre productions — remains a lasting testament to his artistry and contribution to Indian entertainment.
