Kolkata Knight Riders won a comfortable 81-run victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore in their IPL 2023 match on Thursday. KKR scored 204/7 in 20 overs, thanks to a long partnership between Shardul Thakur (68) and Rinku Singh (46) after being 89/5 when asked to bat first. RCB were all out for 123, with Varun Chakaravarthy taking four wickets and debutant Suyash Sharma taking three wickets to shatter the foundation of RCB's batting line-up and contribute to KKR's win.

On his IPL debut, 19-year-old spinner from Delhi, Suyash Sharma, took three wickets and disrupted the star-studded batting lineup of Royal Challengers Bangalore. He claimed the prized wickets of Dinesh Karthik, Anuj Rawat, and Karn Sharma as KKR defeated Faf du Plessis' side by 81 runs at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Thursday night.


KKR purchased him for Rs 20 Lakh in the mini auction held in December of last year. Despite not being in the starting XI against RCB, the spinner was designated as the impact player and came in to play after replacing Venkatesh Iyer.

Suyash played for the U-25 team of Delhi and had not played any List A, FC, or T20 matches. KKR skipper Nitish Rana praised Suyash's performance after the match, calling Suyash a “self-assured young man who believes in himself”. Rana further hailed Sharma for making the most of his opportunity, and it was wonderful to see him bowl so well. The KKR coach, Chandrakant Pandit also praised the fighting attitude of the rookie spinner Suyash Sharma and mentioned that it was challenging for the opponent's batsmen to read his leg-spin.
