Gopalan, 55, will replace Chief Executive Officer Mike Sievert, who has held the job for nearly six years, on Nov. 1. Sievert, 56, will become vice chairman, a new position in which he’ll continue to advise management on strategy, the telecom carrier said in a statement Monday.

Gopalan's education qualification
Srini studied business administration at St. Stephen’s College in New Delhi and earned his Master of Business Administration at IIM Ahmedabad, India’s leading business school.Srini joined T-Mobile in March 2025, bringing with him deep expertise in technology, telecommunications, and business operations, along with a proven record of driving operational excellence, digital transformation, and customer-first strategies. He previously served on T-Mobile’s board of directors and most recently led Deutsche Telekom’s (DT) Germany business as CEO, where he doubled the company’s growth rate, expanded fiber to millions of homes, and secured record mobile market share.
Earlier, as a DT board member for Europe, he played a pivotal role in transforming the business into one of the region’s fastest-growing telecom operations, consistently achieving top customer satisfaction rankings.
Before his tenure at DT, Srini held senior leadership positions at Bharti Airtel, Capital One, and Vodafone, where he drove growth strategies and leveraged data and digital innovation to deliver impactful solutions in highly competitive industries.
