Kerala-based actor and reality TV personality Shiyas Kareem has been booked on multiple charges, including cheating, outraging the modesty of a woman, and criminal intimidation, following a complaint filed by his female business partner, police confirmed on Tuesday.

According to the complaint, Kareem allegedly persuaded the woman to invest a substantial amount—running into lakhs of rupees—by promising her a partnership in a new business venture. However, after receiving the money, he reportedly failed to honour the agreement or proceed with the promised collaboration.

The complainant further alleged that when she sought the return of her investment, Kareem threatened her. Police sources said the woman, who was previously based abroad, had connected with the actor through social media before entering into the business arrangement.


Authorities stated that a detailed investigation is underway, and Kareem is expected to be questioned soon.

Based on the complaint, a case has been registered under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including Section 318(4) (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), Section 79 (insulting the modesty of a woman), and Section 351(2) (criminal intimidation).
