Who is Shivam Mishra?
Shivam Mishra is the son of tobacco businessman KK Mishra and this is not the first time the name of tobacco empire heir has created a controversy. Two years ago, in 2024, Shivam Mishra came into the spotlight when the Income Tax Department carried out a series of raids family’s tobacco business. The Income Tax Department executed searches at 20 locations across Kanpur, Delhi, Mumbai and Gujarat.According to India Today report, Shivam Mishra serves as a director at Banshidhar Tobacco Private Limited and oversees the company’s day-to-day operations. He works between Kanpur and Delhi’s Vasant Vihar. Within the organisation, he manages manufacturing, supply chain operations, and financial planning, and is credited with helping expand the group’s presence across India.
The Mishra family heads one of the country’s major tobacco supply networks. KK Mishra leads the Kanpur-based Banshidhar Tobacco Group, a key supplier of raw materials to several prominent pan masala and tobacco brands. Though based in Uttar Pradesh, the group has a commercial presence across Delhi, Mumbai, Gujarat, and other states.

Shivam Mishra is accustomed to a luxurious lifestyle and owns cars worth 50 crores and wears a diamond watch. During the search, the officials seized multiple luxury vehicles from his residence in Delhi's Vasant Vihar and it is worth noting that the number plates on all of Shivam's luxury vehicles read "4018".

The focus returned sharply on Shivam Mishra Sunday after a Lamborghini an Italian luxury sports car which was being driven allegedly by Shivam Mishra at the time of the accident, costs upwards of Rs 10 crore, was involved in a road accident in Kanpur. The company’s declared income of ₹20–25 crore, however, contrasted sharply with its estimated turnover of ₹100–150 crore, as per NDTV.
Officials suspected that the company had evaded Income Tax and violated GST regulations. There were also indications of offshore accounts and financial manipulations, though details of any ongoing proceedings have not been publicly disclosed since the raids.
