Ruchi Gujjar, a model-turned-actress, has landed in the spotlight after a dramatic incident at the So Long Valley film premiere, where she allegedly assaulted producer Karan Singh Chauhan with her sandal over a financial dispute worth ₹23 lakh. The altercation, caught on camera, has gone viral and sparked widespread curiosity about the woman at the center of the controversy.

Hailing from Mehara Gujarwas village in Rajasthan, Ruchi comes from a traditional Gujjar family where careers in entertainment are rare, especially for women. She studied at Maharani College in Jaipur and rose to fame after being crowned Miss Haryana in 2023. Her career trajectory includes modelling and appearances in music videos such as Jab Tu Meri Na Rahi, Heli Mein Chor, and Ek Ladki, where she starred alongside actor Aman Verma.

Ruchi made international headlines earlier this year at the 78th Cannes Film Festival, where she wore a gold Rajasthani lehenga and Bandhani dupatta, accessorised with a necklace featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s image.



The recent controversy began when Gujjar filed an FIR on July 24, 2025, at Mumbai's Oshiwara Police Station, accusing Chauhan and the So Long Valley team of defrauding her of ₹23 lakh. She claims the money was taken under the pretext of a promised television role, profit sharing, and on-screen credit—none of which materialised.

A day after filing the complaint, Gujjar confronted the producers at the premiere, where she attacked them with her sandal in front of cameras and a crowd of supporters, who demanded the film's suspension until her dues were cleared. She now faces charges under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including assault and criminal intimidation, according to an NDTV report.

Her lawyer has announced plans to file a counter-assault complaint against Chauhan at the Amboli police station.

Meanwhile, So Long Valley director Man Singh has dismissed the incident as a "publicity stunt", claiming that Gujjar had earlier attempted to halt the film's release but was overruled by the court. “Ruchi and Karan know each other well. If she actually gave him money, she should show proof. This is just a drama for attention,” he stated.

The controversy continues to unfold, as the legal battle and public spectacle surrounding Ruchi Gujjar deepen.
