What happened to Ajit Pawar

Ajit Pawar was travelling from Mumbai to Baramati to address a public meeting related to district panchayat elections. Before the aircraft could land at Baramati, its lower section reportedly caught fire. An emergency landing was attempted, but the plane later crashed. Ajit Pawar, 66, died in the incident.

Known as “Dada” among supporters, Ajit Pawar was one of Maharashtra’s most experienced politicians. He served as Deputy Chief Minister six times, the highest number for any leader in the state, and worked with four different Chief Ministers during his career.

Ajit Pawar’s political record remains unmatched. During his 36-year political career, he never lost an election. He won once to the Lok Sabha and eight times to the Maharashtra Assembly from Baramati. In the 2024 Assembly elections, he defeated his nephew by a margin of over one lakh votes.
