Who is Raihan Vadra? What happened at Priyanka Gandhi’s son Raihan’s exhibition at Bikaner House?

Raihan Vadra, son of Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and businessman Robert Vadra alleged that more than 70 photographs featuring youth-led protests were asked to be removed from his photography exhibition, No Idea Is Final, at Delhi’s Bikaner House. The controversy erupted just hours before the exhibition’s scheduled opening.

Raihan Vadra Alleges Removal Of Protest Photographs From Exhibition

Raihan Vadra also alleged that he was asked to remove two photographs featuring the Indian national flag but refused. Titled No Idea Is Final, the exhibition was previewed on Wednesday and opened to visitors on Thursday.

The exhibition features a mix of wildlife photography, abstract works and photographs documenting recent youth movements.

In an Instagram post, Raihan alleged that the management of Bikaner House had directed him to remove several artworks just hours before the exhibition's opening.

"Five hours ago, the Bikaner House Management forced me to remove the bulk of the artworks displayed in my show "No Idea Is Final", which opens this evening at 7 pm. The photos were of the youth protests in Delhi. Apparently, the content is "objectionable". They also directed me to remove two photos of the Tiranga. I have refused. I will not take down a picture of the Indian flag."

Around 70 Photographs Reportedly Removed

According to a PTI report, around 40 photographs remained on display, while more than 70 pictures were removed from the exhibition. The exhibition will continue till Sunday.

Raihan Vadra Says Bikaner House Objected To Political Nature Of Photos

Raihan told PTI that the Bikaner House management had raised concerns over the “political nature” of the photographs depicting youth protests. He claimed that he was informed at 3:30 pm on Wednesday that the images had to be removed by 5 pm, failing which the exhibition would be cancelled.

Raihan Vadra Questions Last-Minute Removal Request

Raihan said he had shared the exhibition's detailed proposal and layout with the Bikaner House management well in advance. He questioned the timing of the request to remove a significant portion of the displayed artworks, stating that the decision came less than 24 hours before the exhibition's opening.

"I made it clear that in view of the fact that I had shared the detailed proposal and layout of the show well in advance with the Bikaner house management it was incorrect on their part to request the removal of 50% of the artworks less than 24 hours before the opening of the show," he said.
