Who is Rachel Gupta, beauty queen who returned her Miss Grand International 2024 crown?

Rachel Gupta has returned the Miss Grand International 2024 crown. In a post on social media, she said she made this decision due to mistreatment and a toxic environment.

She also mentioned that she will soon release a full video explaining the details of her difficult experience.

Rachel explained her reasons, saying, “The months following my crowning have been marked by broken promises, mistreatment, and a toxic environment I can no longer endure in silence.”


She added, “I ask for your compassion, your open hearts, and your continued support as I take this next step. Your love means more than you know.”

Pageant Organisation’s Response

The Miss Grand International Organisation responded strongly with an official statement on social media. They confirmed that Rachel Gupta’s title as Miss Grand International 2024 has been terminated.

The organisation said the decision was made because Rachel failed to carry out her assigned duties and took part in outside projects without getting prior approval. They also pointed out that she refused to join a scheduled trip to Guatemala.


The pageant body has asked Rachel to return the crown to the Miss Grand International Head Office within 30 days.

Rachel Gupta was crowned the 12th Miss Grand International on 25 October 2024. She was the first Indian to win this title. Earlier this year, videos circulated on social media showing the second runner-up, Thae Su Nyein, having her crown and sash removed by the pageant director as she stepped down from the stage.
