The Bharatiya Janata Party has ushered in a new chapter with the elevation of Nitin Nabin as its youngest national president, marking a significant generational shift within the party. At just 45, Nabin’s rise from a first-time MLA to the top organisational post of India’s largest political party has drawn attention across political circles.

Elected unopposed, his appointment reflects both organisational confidence and a strategic push to strengthen the BJP’s grassroots network ahead of crucial state and national elections.

A Rapid Political Rise Rooted in Organisation Work

Nitin Nabin entered mainstream politics in 2006 after the death of his father, veteran BJP leader Navin Kishore Sinha. Then a young man who had to pause his studies, Nabin contested the Patna West seat and won with a massive margin, beginning a political journey that would span nearly two decades.

He went on to win five consecutive elections from the constituency, now known as Bankipur, earning a reputation as a grounded leader with strong organisational skills. His consistent victories, often by large margins, strengthened his standing within the party.

From Bihar to the National Stage

A former state PWD minister and a long-time party organiser, Nitin Nabin was appointed BJP’s working president in December 2025. His elevation ended weeks of speculation over who would succeed JP Nadda and came amid discussions on the BJP’s evolving relationship with the RSS.

Since then, Nabin has been on an extensive tour across states, engaging directly with party workers and setting the tone for the party’s next phase.

His message has been clear and consistent: Politics, he says, is not a sprint but a marathon, one that requires patience, discipline and long-term commitment.

Focus on Elections and ‘Viksit Bharat’

With Assembly elections due in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Assam, Nabin’s leadership will be tested early. He has urged party workers to think beyond short-term electoral gains and focus on building the BJP’s presence “from panchayat to Parliament”.

Repeatedly invoking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat, Nabin has stressed that the party’s goal is not merely to win elections but to remain deeply connected with people’s everyday concerns.

In Assam, he underlined that BJP leaders must stay rooted on the ground, distinguishing full-time politicians from those who appear only during election season.

Organisational Credibility and Electoral Success

Nitin Nabin’s rise is also backed by strong organisational performance. As BJP’s co-in charge of the 2023 Chhattisgarh Assembly elections, he played a key role in the party’s surprise victory over the Congress government led by Bhupesh Baghel.

The momentum continued in the Lok Sabha elections, where the BJP secured 10 of the 11 seats in the state, a result that further strengthened his credentials within the party.

A Leader with Grassroots Appeal

Born in Ranchi, now in Jharkhand, Nabin balances political life with family responsibilities. Married to Deepmala Shrivastava, he is a father of two and is known within party circles for his disciplined lifestyle and low-profile approach.

Party insiders describe him as a leader who combines organisational experience with an understanding of governance, qualities seen as crucial for the BJP’s long-term strategy.

With Nitin Nabin at the helm, the BJP appears to be signalling continuity with change, blending experience with youthful energy.
