From Struggles to the Podium
Hailing from a modest background, Jhandu is the son of a roadside vegetable vendor and once worked as an e-rickshaw driver to support his family. Despite financial hardships, he remained committed to training and pursuing his dream of representing India.Affected by polio at the age of five, he overcame both physical and economic challenges early in life. Even during tough times, he balanced work and rigorous training, often heading to the gym after long workdays.
Emotional Victory
The medal marked a life-changing moment for Jhandu, who reflected on his journey after stepping onto the podium."I feel as if I'm flying. This is my first medal. Only one thing was going through my mind: that I have to win the medal. Just have to win," Jhandu told ANI.
Turning Point in Career
His persistence eventually paid off when he caught the attention of national coach Rajinder Singh Rahelu, who invited him to train at the Sports Authority of India’s National Centre of Excellence in Gandhinagar.
