Amit Lodha, a Bihar IPS officer who rose to fame following the release of the Netflix series "Khakee: The Bihar Chapter." He and his book 'Bihar Diaries' is the inspiration behind the series. has been charged with corruption and allegedly abusing his position for financial gain in Bihar Police.

According to the complaint filed by the Bihar Police's Economic Offences Wing, Lodha struck a deal with the production company 'Friday Story Teller' while serving as an IPS officer. Amit Lodha is accused of receiving Rs 12,372 in cash. However, cops claim that there was a 38.25 lakh transaction in his wife's account.

Amit Lodha is an IIT graduate who was born in Jaipur, Rajasthan. He had passed IIT on his first attempt. He then shifted his focus away from IIT and toward UPSC exams. Amit was appointed as an IPS officer in 1988. His first assignment was in Rajasthan.


According to the reports, Amit gained instant popularity after telling people to call him directly at his landline number.

The Mahto gang case brought Lodha to national attention. He had tracked down Mahto gang members Pintu Mahto and Ashok Mahto, who were facing multiple charges, including a jailbreak after killing two police officers and the murder of 15 people. The gang was responsible for the 2005 assassination of Rajo Singh, a sitting Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha).

Apart from Bihar Diaries, he also wrote a second book titled 'Life in the Uniform: Adventures of an IPS Officer in Bihar,' which was published in 2021. During his career, he received the prestigious President's Police Medal for Meritorious Service, the Police Medal for Gallantry, and the Internal Security Medal for several of his operations. "Khakee: The Bihar Chapter" is a web series based on Amit Lodha's book "Bihar Diaries."
