Who is Farsa Wale Baba?
Mathura's 'Farsa Wale Baba' was killed after he was run over by a vehicle allegedly linked to suspected cattle smugglers in Mathura. His name was Chandrashekhar. The killing of 'Farsa Wale Baba' sparked immediate outrage in the area, with locals and members of cow protection groups taking to the streets. Protesters blocked roads in the Kosi and Chhata areas, demanding swift action against the accused. The situation escalated when police attempted to disperse the crowd, leading to a scuffle.
Initial reports confirmed that one suspect had been apprehended at the scene, while three others managed to flee. A search operation has been launched to trace and arrest the remaining accused. Authorities are also examining the vehicle involved and verifying whether it was indeed being used for illegal cattle transportation. The incident has triggered tension in the surrounding area, with locals expressing grief and anger over the killing.
Police resort to lathi charge
Tensions flared further after a lathi charge, with some protesters pelting stones at police personnel. Several police personnel and dozens of locals were reported injured in the clashes, while multiple police vehicles were vandalised during the unrest. Heavy police deployment was rushed to the area to bring the situation under control, and security was tightened to prevent further escalation.Senior Superintendent of Police Mathura, Shlok Kumar told ANI, "Last night, between approximately 3:00 and 4:00 AM, at Kosi police station, Chandrashekhar, also known as Farsa Baba, stopped a vehicle he deemed suspicious. Due to dense fog, a truck with a Rajasthan license plate coming from behind hit his vehicle, resulting in his death. The container he had stopped was found to contain groceries, and the truck that came from behind, with a Rajasthan number, was loaded with wires. Both the driver and conductor of the truck are residents of Alwar, Rajasthan. The truck met with an accident, and the driver was also injured and is currently receiving treatment.
"There has been no indication of cow smuggling in this incident. Some people had gathered regarding this incident and blocked traffic and pelted stones at Chhata police station. The blockade has been cleared using necessary force. Further legal action is being taken," he said.
