Faiz Hameed was arrested in August this year by the Pakistan military in connection with a housing scheme scandal, leading to the initiation of court-martial proceedings. According to Dawn, this marks the first time in Pakistan's history that a former intelligence chief has faced court martial.Hameed, a close aide of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, was appointed as the head of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) during Khan's tenure. In the same year, Hameed was among six senior generals considered for top military roles by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. However, he opted for early retirement and submitted his resignation to the high command, according to sources.
Born in Chakwal, Punjab Province, Hameed joined the Pakistan Military Academy in 1987, graduating from the Command & Staff College. He was commissioned into the Baloch Regiment of the Pakistan Army.
