I am happy to announce that I am not gonna be taking any new assignments as a playback vocalist from now on. I am calling it off. It was a wonderful journey." Arijit Singh married his childhood friend Koel Roy in January 2014 in a private ceremony at a Tripathi temple in West Bengal, according to a report in ETimes. Arijit and Koel's bond grew out of years of friendship and mutual understanding. Very little information is available online about Koel as she prefers to keep her personal life private. Koel and Arijit were childhood friends.


Koel had a daughter from her earlier marriage, and Arijit embraced family life away from public attention and the singer has always remained firm about protecting his family's privacy. Bollywood films, however, will no longer feature his voice. In his message, he wrote, “I am happy to announce that from now on, I will not be taking any new assignments as a playback singer. I am stopping here.”

As soon as Arijit Singh made the announcement on his social media, singer-rapper Badshah commented, "Sadiyon mein ek (One in centuries)." Singer Raja Kumari wrote, "The time has come." Actor Aly Goni posted, "Nooo bro please nooo." Yashraj Mukhate commented, "I guess we're gonna get some crazy Indie music now."
