Who is Anuj Agnihotri? Meet UPSC topper from Rajasthan who is a fan of Virat Kohli and PR Sreejesh

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the final result of the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2025, with Anuj Agnihotri securing the top rank. The Commission released the results on March 6 after completing the multi-stage selection process that included the written examinations in August 2025 and the personality tests that concluded in February 2026. In total, 958 candidates have been recommended for appointment to various civil services.

The result has put the spotlight on Anuj Agnihotri, a young civil servant from Rajasthan who combines a medical background with a career in public administration.

From Rajasthan village to UPSC top rank: Who is Anuj Agnihoti?

Anuj Agnihotri comes from a village in Jodhpur district of Rajasthan. He pursued medicine and completed his MBBS from AIIMS Jodhpur in 2023. After finishing his medical degree, Agnihotri moved toward public service. His journey eventually led him to the Civil Services Examination, one of India’s most competitive recruitment processes.

Anuj Agnihotri is currently serving in DANICS

Before topping the UPSC examination, Agnihotri had already entered government service. He is currently serving in the Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands Civil Service (DANICS).

DANICS is a Group B (Gazetted) civil service that handles administrative responsibilities in Delhi and several Union Territories. Officers in this cadre play an important role in governance, policy implementation and district administration.

Anuj Agnihotri: A UPSC topper who follows sports closely

While Agnihotri’s academic and administrative journey has drawn attention, his social media activity reveals another side of his personality, his interest in sports.

In one of his posts during the Paris Olympics, he praised Indian hockey goalkeeper PR Sreejesh, writing:

“Pr sreejesh is the boss #OlympicGamesParis2024”

He has also expressed admiration for Indian cricket star Virat Kohli over his remarkable performance in ICC 2024 T20 wrold Cup. In another tweet, he wrote:

“Kohli u beauty!”

These posts have quickly circulated online after the UPSC result announcement, showing that the new topper also enjoys following India’s sporting heroes.

UPSC CSE 2025 result brings new faces to civil services

The Civil Services Examination is conducted every year to recruit officers for services such as the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and Indian Foreign Service (IFS), along with several central services.
