The handover signals a shift in how Eternal plans to run its next phase of growth, with a strong focus on execution and scale.
A leadership change years in the making
Deepinder Goyal has guided the company from its early days as Zomato into a multi-business group operating across food delivery and quick commerce. By naming Dhindsa as his successor, Goyal is passing operational control to a leader who has already built and scaled one of Eternal’s most important businesses. With Dhindsa taking charge of daily operations, Eternal is entering a new chapter while keeping continuity at the board level.
Albinder Dhindsa Education: From IIT Delhi to global business schools
Albinder Dhindsa is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, where he studied civil engineering from 2000 to 2004. He went on to pursue an MBA at Columbia Business School in New York from 2010 to 2012. The programme exposed him to global business practices, strategy and finance, adding a broader perspective to his technical background.Albinder Dhindsa's early career in consulting and finance
Before joining the startup world, Dhindsa worked across consulting and finance roles. He began his career as a transportation analyst at URS Corporation between 2005 and 2007. He later moved to Cambridge Systematics as a senior associate, where he worked until 2010 on planning and operations-related projects.During his MBA, he also spent time as an associate at UBS Investment Bank in New York, gaining experience in global finance before returning to India.
Zomato years and international expansion

Building Blinkit and cracking quick commerce
In 2014, Dhindsa founded Grofers, which was later rebranded as Blinkit. His idea was straightforward but risky at the time: deliver groceries and essentials at high speed in Indian cities. Over the years, Blinkit became one of India’s leading quick commerce platforms, known for tight operations and fast delivery timelines.Blinkit eventually became a key part of Eternal’s business portfolio, making Dhindsa a natural choice to lead the larger group.
What Dhindsa’s appointment means for Eternal

Goyal’s continued presence on the board offers stability, while Dhindsa brings hands-on experience in running complex, high-volume businesses. For the industry, the transition reflects how India’s internet companies are evolving, with founders stepping back from daily control and execution-focused leaders taking charge of the next growth cycle.
