UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshata Murty were reportedly reminded of rules by the police after they were spotted walking their dog in London's Hyde Park without a leash.

The UK prime minister reportedly let their pet Labrador, Nova, to roam freely in an area where rules say dogs must be kept on a leash. An officer of Metropolitan Police force then asked the 42-year-old Indian-origin prime minister and his family to put the dog on leash. A video of the incident has now gone viral on TikTok.

In the clip posted on TikTok, Sunak's two-year-old Labrador Retriever, Nova, can be seen wandering around near the edge of Serpentine lake on Saturday where there were clear signs that state dogs must be kept on leads to avoid disturbing the local wildlife.

"We are aware of a video showing a dog being walked off the lead in Hyde Park," the Metropolitan Police force said in a statement. "An officer, who was present at the time, spoke to a woman and reminded her of the rules. The dog was put back on the lead."

Police said they would take no further action.

As per BBC, the police officer involved was one of the prime minister's close protection team.

It is not clear when the video was filmed.

Meanwhile, a Downing Street spokesperson said it would not comment on the video when asked if Sunak would apologise.

This is the second time that the UK prime minister has found himself on the wrong side of the law.

Couple of months back, Sunak was fined by police for failing to wear a seatbelt in a moving car.

Sunak had then apologised for "an error of judgment" and was handed a fixed-penalty notice by Lancashire police for the offence, which can result in a fine of up to 500 pounds.

The incident came to light after Sunak posted a video of himself to social media while travelling in the back seat of a car.
