Ekadashi is regarded as one of the most sacred days for devotees of Lord Vishnu. On this day, devotees observe strict fasting and engage in prayers with deep devotion to seek divine blessings. It is entirely dedicated to worshipping Shri Hari, with followers participating in various religious and spiritual practices to please him.

Ekadashi occurs twice every month, once during the Shukla Paksha (waxing phase of the moon) and once during the Krishna Paksha (waning phase).

  • Begin the day early by waking up at dawn, taking a holy bath, and ensuring the house—especially the puja room—is clean and purified.

  • Place an idol of Lord Vishnu on a wooden plank (chowki) and light a diya filled with desi ghee in front of the deity to start the puja.

  • Offer a garland of yellow flowers, chant sacred mantras dedicated to Lord Vishnu, and present offerings like dry fruits, seasonal fruits, and tulsi leaves.

  • Devotees should recite the Ekadashi vrat katha and perform the aarti of Lord Vishnu with full devotion.

  • The fast is concluded the following day on Dwadashi tithi by observing the proper parana rituals.
