According to the Drik Panchang, Lord Ganesha was born during the Shukla Paksha of the Bhadrapada month, which typically falls in August or September.

• Madhyahna Ganesha Puja Muhurat: 11:06 AM to 1:40 PM on August 27.
• Ganesh Visarjan: Scheduled for Saturday, September 6, 2025.

In Hindu tradition, Ganesha is the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Legend says Parvati created him from the dirt of her body and assigned him the task of guarding her. When Shiva returned and found Ganesha blocking his way, he became furious and severed the boy’s head. A devastated Parvati demanded his revival, leading Shiva to replace Ganesha’s head with that of an elephant, granting him new life.

Historical Roots and Significance

The festival traces its origins back to the Maratha Empire, where Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj promoted it to foster unity and devotion. Later, during British rule, Lokmanya Tilak transformed Ganesh Chaturthi into a public celebration to unite people and inspire the freedom movement.
