WhatsApp iOS Update: iOS users can now post voice notes as status updates, here's how
WhatsApp is rolling out Voice Status, PiP mode, and bug fixes for iPhone users with the new app version.

The ‘Voice Status’ feature is now available in WhatsApp version 23.5.77 for iOS. Users can record a voice note and share it with a contact via the feature. Go to the App Store and update the WhatsApp app to get the new update.
Once updated, here's a quick guide to sharing your voice note on status.
- On your iPhone, launch WhatsApp.
- Navigate to the ‘Status’ tab at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap on the pencil-shaped floating button in the bottom right corner of the screen.
- To begin recording a voice message, tap the microphone icon.
- Start recording your message by holding down the microphone icon. You have 30 seconds to record.
- When you are finished recording your message, click the microphone icon to exit.
- After you have listened to and reviewed your recording, tap the send icon to share it as a status update.
Your voice message will now appear as a status update to your WhatsApp contacts.
To enable PiP mode:
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone,
- then tap on General and Picture,
- and then toggle the 'Start PiP Automatically' toggle to green.
- Once enabled, your iPhone will support WhatsApp's PiP mode, meanwhile, Android users can already use the feature.
WhatsApp is also working on new features that will be included in future app updates. Split view on Android tablets, call link feature for Windows, the ability to schedule group calls, control group participant for iOS and Android, and other features are on the way.
