The rise of COVID-19 cases in China has put India on high alert and necessicated taking more precautions. The Indian government recently announced guidelines for all cities and advised people to wear masks in crowded areas.

China is reportedly struggling to deal with an explosive surge of COVID-19 cases and deaths in recent times. According to the reports, this huge spike of coronavirus is due to the BF.7 strain of the Omicron variant. The BF.7 strain is extremely infectious.

The head of the COVID-19 panel told media that BF.7 is not the only variant responsible for the spike. BQ and BN variants contain over 50% of coronavirus in China. SVV variants contain around 10-15% of total coronavirus in China. While the BF.7 variant contains only 10%.

However, Indians have developed immunity against viruses, making it likely that the BF.7 variant shouldn’t concern India. Especially since most Indians have got both shots of a COVID-19 vaccine.

China has recently decided to loosen the travel restriction. The inbound travellers will not have to stay in quarantine after January 8. This movie will be a huge relief for Chinese nationals overseas.

Meanwhile, the Indian government conducted a mock drill on December 27 in hospitals across the country to check preparedness to deal with a Covid spurge.
