What would you do if a snake climbs over you? See viral video

This could be hair-raising for those who are not comfortable with snake videos.

A video shared by Indian Forest Service officer Susanta Nanda on Twitter shows a cobra, its hood flared, perched on a woman lying on a cot beneath a clump of trees.

The audio has the voice of a woman crying out aloud; it's not clear if it's the same woman or someone else nearer to the camera; it's also not clear whether she is crying out a prayer or calling out to someone for help.


It seems as if the snake had slithered up the woman's back while she was lying on the cot, and then, possibly alerted by some noise, stood with hood raised and ready to strike.

"When this happens, what would be your reaction?" Nanda asked in his tweet.

The IFS officer then proceeded to explain what the woman in the video did. "For information, the snake moved away after a few minutes without causing any harm," he said.

He did not give any information on where and when this happened, but some comments identified the location as Karnataka's Afzalpur taluk.

The video went viral and there were a flood of comments, many of them praising the woman for the presence of mind she showed.

"Lady's guts has to be appreciated," commented one user. "Terrific presence of mind of the lady," said another.

Many others pointed out that what she did was the best thing to do under the circumstance: lay still and not provoke the reptile into striking in self defence.

"That lady did well! Offcourse drenched in fear but did not panic , did threaten the snake in any way ..needs patience ..any sign of threat," commented a user.

And all those who commented were happy about one thing - that this episode had a happy ending.
