West Bengal weather forecast: Heavy rain, thunderstorms to lash north and south Bengal for 7 days
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast widespread rainfall across West Bengal over the next seven days, with north Bengal likely to witness heavy to very heavy rain until August 6. Several districts in south Bengal are also expected to receive moderate to heavy rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph on multiple days. The weather department has urged residents in vulnerable areas to remain cautious as intense monsoon activity is expected to persist through the week.

North Bengal weather forecast (August 1–7)

North Bengal is expected to witness active monsoon conditions throughout the week, with light to moderate rain forecast in all districts from August 1 to 7. The IMD has issued heavy to very heavy rainfall warnings for Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, Kalimpong and Cooch Behar on multiple days between August 1 and 5. Heavy rain is also likely in North Dinajpur on August 2 and 4, while Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar and Cooch Behar may continue to receive heavy showers on August 6. Rainfall activity is expected to ease slightly on August 7, with no heavy rain warning in place.

Heavy rain has been forecast for North 24 Parganas, Nadia and Murshidabad on August 3; Birbhum, Murshidabad and East Burdwan on August 5; North 24 Parganas, East & West Burdwan, Murshidabad and Birbhum on August 6; and South 24 Parganas, East & West Midnapore, Bankura, Purulia and Jhargram on August 7. Thunderstorm activity is expected across all districts on August 3 and 4.
