Currently working as a Software Development Engineer (SDE) in Gurgaon, he earns a fixed salary of ₹13 lakh per annum. Being a resident of the city, he lives with his family and does not bear significant expenses such as rent, allowing him to save a larger portion of his income.
However, the situation has become more complex after he received a new job offer from Bengaluru, offering a fixed compensation of ₹25 lakh per annum, almost double his current salary. Despite the attractive pay hike, the timing of the opportunity has left him uncertain.
“I'm currently working as an SDE in Gurgaon and earning 13 LPA fixed. Gurgaon is also my hometown, so I'm living with my family and don't have major expenses like rent. Recently, I've received an offer for 25 LPA fixed in Bangalore,” the techie wrote.
The post quickly gained traction, with several users weighing in on the dilemma. While some emphasised long-term career growth, others acknowledged the personal challenges tied to relocation before a major life event.
One user wrote, “Take that Bangalore job. That ctc will be better in negotiating your next switch. And being in Bangalore will definitely open more doors.”
Another commented, “Career wise I would suggest to take the better job anytime, even if you save less money. Future career and salary growth might be impacted if you go after immediate gains.”
