Weather tomorrow, October 24: IMD forecasts heavy rain in Tamil Nadu, Kerala; check state-wise list

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to extremely heavy rainfall across several parts of India on October 24, with Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, Kerala, Lakshadweep and parts of eastern India likely to experience intense weather during the coming days. Extremely heavy rainfall is forecast over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal from October 24 to 26, while Kerala and Mahe are likely to receive very heavy rainfall until October 25. The forecast also warns of thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds and strong surface winds in several states, with heavy rainfall expected across parts of southern, eastern and central India through October 29.

Tamil Nadu

Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall is likely in Tamil Nadu from October 23 to 25, followed by isolated to scattered rainfall between October 26 and 29. Isolated thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching 40-50 kmph, with gusts up to 60 kmph, are likely from October 23 to 26.

The IMD has forecast isolated very heavy rainfall from October 24 to 26. Heavy rainfall is also likely at isolated places during this period.

Puducherry and Karaikal

Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall is likely from October 23 to 25, followed by isolated to scattered rainfall from October 26 to 29. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching 40-50 kmph, with gusts up to 60 kmph, are likely from October 23 to 26.

Very heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places from October 24 to 26.

Kerala

Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall is likely in Kerala from October 23 to 27, followed by isolated to scattered rainfall on October 28 and 29. Thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds reaching 30-40 kmph, with gusts up to 50 kmph, are likely from October 23 to 26.

The IMD has forecast isolated very heavy rainfall from October 23 to 25 and heavy rainfall on October 26.

Lakshadweep

Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall is likely over Lakshadweep from October 23 to 26, followed by isolated to scattered rainfall from October 27 to 29. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching 30-40 kmph, with gusts up to 50 kmph, are likely from October 23 to 26.

Very heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places on October 23 and 24, while heavy rainfall is forecast on October 25.

Andhra Pradesh

Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall is likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh from October 27 to 29, while isolated to scattered rainfall is forecast over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema on October 23 and 24.

Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching 40-50 kmph, with gusts up to 60 kmph, are likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema from October 26 to 27. Gusty winds reaching 30-40 kmph, with gusts up to 50 kmph, are also likely on October 23 and 24.

Isolated heavy rainfall is forecast over Coastal Andhra Pradesh on October 23 and 29, and over Rayalaseema on October 23. Isolated to scattered rainfall is likely over Telangana from October 27 to 29. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching 30-40 kmph, with gusts up to 50 kmph, are likely during the same period. Isolated heavy rainfall is forecast on October 28.

Andaman and Nicobar Islands

Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall is likely over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands from October 23 to 29. Isolated thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds reaching 30-40 kmph, with gusts up to 50 kmph, are likely on October 23, while stronger gusty winds reaching 40-50 kmph, with gusts up to 60 kmph, are forecast from October 24 to 27.

Isolated heavy rainfall is likely from October 23 to 27. Squally weather is also likely over the east-central and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal and along and off the Andaman Islands, with wind speeds reaching 45-55 kmph and gusts up to 65 kmph.
