Weather tomorrow, October 22: IMD forecasts very heavy rain in Tamil Nadu, Kerala; check state-wise list

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, as well as Kerala and Mahe, on Thursday, October 22. Heavy rainfall is also likely over Andhra Pradesh and Lakshadweep, while thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are expected over Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

The IMD has also warned of squally weather along and off the Kerala coast, over the Lakshadweep area, in the Gulf of Mannar adjoining the Comorin area, and along and off the south Tamil Nadu and north Sri Lanka coasts. Hot and humid weather conditions are likely over Goa and Maharashtra's Konkan region.

Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka to receive rainfall

Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall is likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal on October 22. Similar conditions are forecast over Kerala and Mahe, and Lakshadweep, during October 21-27. Coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka are likely to receive fairly widespread to widespread rainfall during October 22-24.


Isolated to scattered rainfall is likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, and Rayalaseema, during October 21-27. North Interior Karnataka is likely to receive isolated to scattered rainfall during October 22-25, while Telangana may experience such conditions on October 21. Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal are likely to receive isolated to scattered rainfall during October 23-27.

Heavy rainfall warning for Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh

The IMD has forecast isolated heavy rainfall over Lakshadweep on October 21-22 and October 25, and over South Interior Karnataka during October 22-25. Kerala and Mahe are likely to receive isolated heavy rainfall on October 23 and during October 26-27. Heavy rainfall is also likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, and Rayalaseema, on October 21. Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal may experience isolated heavy rainfall on October 26.

Isolated very heavy rainfall is likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during October 21-25. Kerala and Mahe are likely to receive very heavy rainfall during October 21-22 and October 24-25, while Lakshadweep may experience such conditions during October 23-24.

Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds likely

Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 40-50 kmph, gusting to 60 kmph, are likely at isolated places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during October 21-26. Similar conditions are expected over Kerala and Mahe, and Lakshadweep, during October 24-25.

Gusty winds of 30-40 kmph, gusting to 50 kmph, are likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Kerala and Mahe, Lakshadweep, and Rayalaseema during October 21-23. North Interior Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka may experience such winds during October 22-24, while Telangana may see them on October 21.

Isolated thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are likely over Coastal Karnataka during October 21-25, North Interior Karnataka on October 25, and South Interior Karnataka on October 21 and 25.

Strong surface winds are likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, and Rayalaseema, during October 21-23.

Rainfall forecast for Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Odisha

Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall is likely over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands during October 21-27. Isolated heavy rainfall is also likely over the islands during October 22-27.

Odisha is likely to receive isolated to scattered rainfall during October 26-27.

No significant weather expected in Northwest, Central, West and Northeast India

No significant weather is likely over Northwest India, Central India, West India and Northeast India during the week, according to the IMD.

Hot and humid conditions in Goa, Maharashtra

Hot and humid weather conditions are likely over Goa and Maharashtra's Konkan region during October 21-22.

Squally weather warning along coastal areas

Squally weather, with wind speeds of 35-45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph, is likely along and off the Kerala coast, over the Lakshadweep area, in the Gulf of Mannar adjoining the Comorin area, and along and off the south Tamil Nadu and north Sri Lanka coasts.
