According to the IMD, a depression over Jharkhand and adjoining north interior Odisha is likely to move northwestwards across Jharkhand, north Chhattisgarh and adjoining east Madhya Pradesh, bringing widespread rainfall to several states.

Southwest monsoon likely to advance further
The IMD said conditions remain favourable for the further advance of the southwest monsoon into more parts of the North Arabian Sea, Gujarat, the remaining areas of Haryana and Punjab, and parts of Rajasthan over the next three days.Which states are likely to receive heavy rain on July 7?

- Konkan and Goa
- Gujarat

The IMD has also warned of extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places over:

Thunderstorms and strong winds expected
Apart from heavy rain, the IMD has predicted thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds across several states.Wind speeds are likely to reach 40-50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph, in parts of:

- Rajasthan
- Uttar Pradesh
- Jharkhand
- Bihar
- West Bengal
- Odisha
- Karnataka
- Telangana
- Andhra Pradesh
- Assam
- Meghalaya
- Arunachal Pradesh
- Nagaland
- Manipur
- Mizoram
- Tripura
Some parts of Karnataka and Telangana may also experience thundersqualls, with wind speeds reaching 50-70 kmph.
Depression continues to influence weather
According to the IMD, the depression that developed over coastal Odisha and adjoining West Bengal has weakened slightly and is currently centred over south Jharkhand and adjoining north interior Odisha.The weather system is expected to move northwestwards over the next 24 hours, increasing rainfall activity across central and eastern India.
The IMD also said the seasonal monsoon trough, an offshore trough along the west coast, and a Western Disturbance over the western Himalayas are contributing to the widespread rain.

Very heavy rainfall was also recorded in:

Meanwhile, heavy rainfall occurred in parts of:

- East Rajasthan
- Jharkhand
- Assam
- Manipur
- West Bengal and Sikkim
- Vidarbha
IMD advises caution
The IMD has advised people living in areas under heavy rainfall warnings to remain alert for waterlogging, flash floods, landslides, reduced visibility and traffic disruptions.
