Weather tomorrow, July 25: Check IMD forecast as Gujarat faces heavy to very heavy rain; Delhi, Rajasthan among states on alert

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall across several parts of the country over the next few days, with Gujarat expected to receive the heaviest showers. Heavy to very heavy rain is also likely in Rajasthan, while Delhi-NCR, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Assam, Meghalaya and other northeastern states are expected to receive widespread rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds.

The weather department attributed the active monsoon conditions to a low-pressure area over southeast Rajasthan and adjoining Madhya Pradesh, along with the monsoon trough and cyclonic circulations.

IMD weather forecast: Active monsoon to keep rain intense

According to the IMD, the prevailing weather systems will keep rainfall activity vigorous over northwest, central and western India over the next few days. Gujarat is expected to witness the heaviest rainfall during this period, while several other states are likely to experience widespread showers.

Delhi-NCR weather tomorrow

Delhi and the National Capital Region are likely to receive light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms on Saturday. Rainfall activity is expected to intensify over the next two to four days, with heavy rain likely at isolated places from July 27. Cloudy skies and humid conditions are expected to continue.

City-wise weather forecast

Delhi

Light to moderate rain and thunderstorms are likely on Saturday, with cloudy skies keeping temperatures close to normal. Rainfall is expected to increase over the next two to three days, with isolated heavy rain forecast from July 27.

Mumbai

Mumbai and the Konkan region are likely to receive heavy rainfall, with isolated very heavy spells possible. Waterlogging and traffic disruptions may occur in low-lying areas as monsoon conditions remain active.

Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad is expected to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall, while isolated areas across Gujarat may receive extremely heavy rain. The IMD has warned of localised flooding, waterlogging and disruption to normal life in several districts.

Jaipur

Jaipur and other parts of east Rajasthan are likely to receive heavy rainfall, with isolated extremely heavy spells. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are also expected.

Kolkata

Kolkata and parts of Gangetic West Bengal are likely to witness moderate to heavy showers accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds. Rainfall activity is expected to remain active over the coming days.

Hyderabad

Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are likely over Hyderabad. Strong surface winds are also expected across Telangana, with light to moderate rain at isolated places.

Bengaluru

Bengaluru is likely to experience thunderstorms and gusty winds. While widespread heavy rain is not expected over the city, parts of Karnataka may receive scattered showers and strong winds.

Chennai

Chennai is expected to witness thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds. Light to moderate showers may occur at isolated places across the city.

Guwahati

Guwahati and several parts of Assam are likely to receive heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. Rainfall activity is expected to continue across the Northeast over the next several days.

State-wise rain alert

Gujarat

Heavy to very heavy rainfall, with isolated extremely heavy spells, is likely over the next day. Heavy rain is expected to continue over the following two to three days, increasing the risk of waterlogging and localised flooding.

Rajasthan

Heavy rainfall is expected across several parts of the state, with east Rajasthan likely to receive isolated extremely heavy spells. Thunderstorms with lightning are also forecast.

Delhi, Haryana and Punjab

Light to moderate rain and thunderstorms are expected initially, with rainfall activity set to intensify. Heavy rain is likely at isolated places across the region from July 27.

Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand

Heavy rainfall is expected to continue over the next few days, with isolated very heavy rainfall likely from July 27. The IMD has advised residents in landslide-prone and low-lying areas to remain alert.

Madhya Pradesh

Heavy rainfall is likely across many parts of the state over the next two days. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are also expected at isolated places.

Odisha

Heavy rainfall is forecast at isolated places over the next two days, along with thunderstorms and gusty winds. Rainfall activity is expected to increase again later in the forecast period.

Bihar and West Bengal

Heavy rainfall is likely over Bihar, while Gangetic West Bengal is expected to receive heavy showers accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds.

Assam, Meghalaya and Northeast

Heavy rainfall is likely across Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura over the next several days, with thunderstorms and lightning also expected.

Konkan and Goa

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is forecast over Konkan and Goa, with isolated intense spells likely. Waterlogging and traffic disruptions may occur in vulnerable areas.

Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Telangana

Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are expected over Tamil Nadu and interior Karnataka, while Telangana is likely to witness thunderstorms and strong surface winds. Heavy rainfall is also forecast over coastal Karnataka.

The IMD said active monsoon conditions will persist over the country due to the low-pressure area over southeast Rajasthan and adjoining Madhya Pradesh, supported by the monsoon trough and multiple cyclonic circulations. These weather systems are expected to keep rainfall active across northwest, central, western and northeastern India over the next few days.

According to the latest forecast, Gujarat is expected to receive the heaviest rainfall during the next two days, while heavy rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds are likely across large parts of northern, central, eastern and southern India. The IMD has also warned of possible waterlogging, localised flooding and traffic disruptions in areas receiving very heavy rainfall.
