The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast widespread rainfall across large parts of the country on Wednesday, July 22, with heavy to very heavy rain expected in several states. Thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds and the risk of flash floods and landslides are also likely in vulnerable areas.

From the Himalayan states to western, central and eastern India, the monsoon is expected to remain active, prompting weather warnings for multiple regions.

Delhi weather tomorrow

According to the IMD, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi are likely to experience fairly widespread to widespread rainfall on 22 July.


The department has also forecast isolated heavy rainfall, with very heavy rainfall possible at isolated places across the region.

Uttarakhand weather tomorrow

The IMD has forecast widespread rainfall across Uttarakhand, with heavy rainfall likely on 22 July.

Thunderstorms and lightning are also expected, while the possibility of landslides and flash floods remains in vulnerable hilly areas.

Himachal Pradesh weather tomorrow

Heavy monsoon activity is expected to continue over Himachal Pradesh. The IMD has forecast heavy rainfall, with isolated very heavy rainfall likely in parts of the state on 22 July.

Residents have been advised to remain alert, especially in landslide-prone districts.

Jammu and Kashmir weather tomorrow

The weather department has predicted isolated very heavy rainfall over Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 30–40 kmph, gusting up to 50 kmph, are also expected.

Uttar Pradesh weather tomorrow

Rain activity is expected to intensify across Uttar Pradesh.

  • West Uttar Pradesh: Heavy rainfall likely on 22 July, with isolated very heavy rainfall possible.
  • East Uttar Pradesh: Heavy rainfall expected on 22 July.

Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh weather tomorrow

The IMD has forecast heavy rainfall over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi on Wednesday. Very heavy rainfall is also likely at isolated places in Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi.

Rajasthan weather tomorrow

While rain is expected across Rajasthan, the IMD has forecast:

Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh weather tomorrow

  • West Madhya Pradesh
  • Vidarbha
  • Chhattisgarh
Very heavy rainfall is likely over parts of Madhya Pradesh.

Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand and West Bengal weather tomorrow

The IMD has forecast widespread rainfall across eastern India.

Heavy rainfall is likely over:
  • Bihar
  • Odisha
  • Gangetic West Bengal
  • Jharkhand
  • Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim
Moderate to intense lightning is also possible in several parts of the region.

Gujarat and Maharashtra weather tomorrow

Heavy rainfall is expected across western India.

According to the IMD:
  • Gujarat Region: Heavy to very heavy rainfall likely.
  • Madhya Maharashtra: Heavy to very heavy rainfall expected on 22 July.
  • Konkan and Goa: Rainfall activity will continue, although the heaviest rain is expected later in the week.

Northeast India weather tomorrow

Heavy rainfall is likely over:
  • Assam and Meghalaya
  • Nagaland
  • Manipur
  • Mizoram
  • Tripura
Rainfall is expected to continue across the region over the next several days.

South India weather tomorrow

Several southern states are also expected to receive rainfall.

The IMD forecasts:
  • Heavy rainfall over Kerala and Mahe
  • Heavy rainfall over Coastal Karnataka
  • Rain over Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and North Interior Karnataka
Gusty winds of 40–50 kmph, reaching 60 kmph in isolated places, are likely over parts of Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema and Karnataka.

IMD advisory

The IMD has advised residents in areas under heavy rainfall warnings to remain cautious due to the possibility of:
  • Flash floods
  • Landslides in hilly regions
  • Waterlogging in urban areas
  • Reduced visibility during heavy rain
  • Disruption to road transport
People are advised to follow updates issued by local authorities and avoid travelling through flood-prone or landslide-prone areas unless necessary.
