Weather tomorrow July 15: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a sharp contrast in weather conditions across the country on tomorrow (July 15), with Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh likely to receive heavy to extremely heavy rainfall. On the other hand, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana are expected to witness rain and thunderstorms. At the same time, Tamil Nadu, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are set to experience hot and humid conditions despite scattered showers.

IMD issues heavy rainfall alert for East and Northeast India

The IMD said the monsoon will remain vigorous over eastern and northeastern India through the week, increasing the likelihood of flooding, waterlogging and disruptions in low-lying areas.

Among the most affected states:

Odisha is under an extremely heavy rainfall warning on July 14 and 15, with heavy to very heavy rainfall expected at several places.

Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are likely to receive heavy rainfall through July 18, with isolated very heavy rainfall on July 19 and 20.

Bihar is expected to witness heavy rainfall from July 14 to 20, with the intensity increasing during the latter half of the week.

Jharkhand may receive heavy rainfall between July 14 and 17.

Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh are likely to experience heavy rainfall throughout the week.

Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura are also expected to receive heavy rainfall, with isolated very heavy showers in some areas.

State-wise IMD weather forecast

Delhi, Haryana and Punjab

Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh and Punjab are expected to receive isolated to scattered rainfall until July 18. Rain activity is likely to become more widespread between July 19 and 20.

The IMD has also forecast heavy rainfall over Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Punjab on July 19 and 20. Hot and humid weather may continue till July 16.

Uttar Pradesh

West Uttar Pradesh is likely to receive scattered rainfall till July 20, while East Uttar Pradesh will continue to witness rain through July 17 before rainfall becomes more widespread from July 18.

Heavy rainfall is forecast over eastern Uttar Pradesh between July 17 and 20 and western Uttar Pradesh on July 19 and 20. Hot and humid conditions are expected till July 16.

Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand is likely to witness rainfall throughout the week, with widespread showers expected from July 16 onwards.

Heavy rainfall has been forecast from July 15 to 20, along with isolated thunderstorms and lightning.

Himachal Pradesh

Rainfall is expected across Himachal Pradesh throughout the week, becoming widespread after July 17.

Heavy rainfall is likely between July 18 and 20.

Jammu and Kashmir

Jammu and Kashmir is expected to receive intermittent rainfall throughout the week, with widespread rain from July 18 onwards.

Heavy rainfall is likely between July 18 and 20, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds reaching 40-60 kmph.

Rajasthan

East and West Rajasthan are likely to witness isolated rainfall till July 20, bringing some relief from high temperatures.

Madhya Pradesh

East Madhya Pradesh is expected to receive rainfall throughout the week, while West Madhya Pradesh is likely to see showers from July 15 onwards.

Thunderstorms with gusty winds are expected between July 16 and 18.

Chhattisgarh

Rainfall is likely across Chhattisgarh this week, becoming widespread between July 18 and 20.

Heavy rainfall is expected on July 14 and 15.

Vidarbha

Vidarbha is forecast to receive rainfall throughout the week, with isolated thunderstorms and lightning on July 14 and again on July 17 and 18.

Odisha

Odisha remains one of the states under the highest alert.

The IMD has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall between July 14 and 17, with extremely heavy rainfall likely on July 14 and 15. Heavy rainfall may continue in isolated areas until July 20.

West Bengal

Both Gangetic West Bengal and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal are expected to receive widespread rainfall through the week.

Gangetic West Bengal may witness heavy rainfall on July 14, 15 and 17, while Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are likely to receive heavy rainfall till July 18 and very heavy rainfall on July 19 and 20.

Bihar

Bihar is likely to receive widespread rainfall till July 16, followed by scattered showers later in the week.

Heavy rainfall is expected from July 14 to 20, with increased intensity after July 16.

Jharkhand

Jharkhand is expected to receive widespread rainfall till July 17, with heavy showers likely during the same period.

Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh

Heavy rainfall is likely throughout the week across Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh as the southwest monsoon remains active over the region.

Thunderstorms and lightning are also expected in several districts.

Tripura, Nagaland, Manipur and Mizoram

These northeastern states are expected to witness widespread rainfall through July 20.

Heavy rainfall is likely from July 15 to 18, while isolated very heavy rainfall is possible on July 14 in some places.

Gujarat

The Gujarat region, including Saurashtra and Kutch, is likely to receive scattered rainfall through July 20.

Maharashtra

Konkan and Goa are expected to receive scattered rainfall till July 16, becoming widespread between July 17 and 20.

Marathwada is likely to witness very heavy rainfall on July 15 and 16, while Madhya Maharashtra may experience thunderstorms.

Karnataka

Coastal Karnataka is likely to receive rainfall through the week, with more widespread showers after July 17.

North and South Interior Karnataka are also expected to receive intermittent rainfall, accompanied by strong surface winds and thunderstorms in some areas.

Hot and humid conditions are likely over Coastal and North Interior Karnataka till July 15.

Kerala

Kerala and Mahe are expected to receive rainfall throughout the week, becoming widespread from July 18.

Strong surface winds and thunderstorms are also likely on July 14 and 15.

Andhra Pradesh

Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam are likely to receive rainfall from July 15 onwards.

However, heatwave conditions are likely on July 14 and 15, while hot and humid weather may continue through July 17.

Telangana

Telangana is expected to receive scattered rainfall throughout the week.

The IMD has also forecast thunderstorms, gusty winds and strong surface winds across the state.

Hot and humid conditions are likely until July 15.

Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal are likely to receive scattered rainfall over the next week.

At the same time, heatwave conditions are expected on July 14 and 15, while hot and humid weather may continue until July 17.

Heatwave and hot weather continue in South India

Even as the monsoon remains active across large parts of the country, the IMD has warned that several southern states may continue to experience uncomfortable weather.

According to the weather office: "Heat wave conditions very likely in isolated pockets over Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal during 14th-15th July; Rayalaseema on 14th July."

The IMD also said: "Hot and humid weather conditions likely to prevail over East Uttar Pradesh, Haryana Chandigarh & Delhi, Punjab and West Uttar Pradesh during 14th-16th July; Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal during 14th-17th July."

IMD advises caution

With heavy rainfall expected across eastern and northeastern India, residents in vulnerable areas have been advised to stay updated with official weather bulletins, avoid waterlogged roads and remain alert for flash floods and landslides in hilly regions.

People living in areas under thunderstorm warnings should avoid taking shelter under trees or weak structures and follow advisories issued by local authorities as the southwest monsoon remains active over much of the country.
