Among all states, Uttarakhand continues to remain one of the biggest areas of concern.

The IMD has issued a red alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall, warning that intense showers could continue over the coming days.

The warning comes after Sunday's relentless rain triggered landslides across the hill state, blocking 126 roads, including two national highways. A wall collapse in Dehradun injured a woman and forced seven families to leave their homes, while restoration work continued on the Yamunotri Highway after a landslide near Syanachatti kept the route shut for three consecutive days.

  • Odisha is likely to witness heavy rainfall, with isolated very heavy showers possible.
  • Gangetic West Bengal is expected to receive isolated heavy rain.
  • Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim may continue to experience heavy rainfall.

  • Light showers possible over West Uttar Pradesh
  • Temperatures hovering around 36°C during the day and 26°C at night

According to IMD data, the state has recorded a 17% rainfall deficit so far this monsoon season. According to the weather office, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and squally winds were forecast over western Uttar Pradesh on Monday. No warning has been issued for either region until July 16. However, heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over eastern Uttar Pradesh from July 17 to 19 and over western Uttar Pradesh on July 18 and 19.

  • Isolated to scattered rainfall over Chhattisgarh
  • Rain over East Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha
  • Thunderstorms with lightning over Chhattisgarh

South India weather tomorrow

States likely to experience thunderstorms include:

Bihar
Odisha
Jharkhand
Gangetic West Bengal
Arunachal Pradesh
Assam and Meghalaya
Nagaland
Manipur
Mizoram
Tripura
Chhattisgarh
Jammu & Kashmir

In several of these areas, gusty winds of 40-50 kmph, with gusts reaching 60 kmph, may accompany thunderstorms.

Monsoon remains uneven across India

While eastern and northeastern India continue to receive active monsoon rainfall, large parts of northwest, west-central and peninsular India are still witnessing weaker monsoon conditions.

The IMD said weak rainfall activity is likely over northwest India, west-central India and parts of south peninsular India over the next six to seven days, even as heavy rain continues over the Himalayan states and eastern India.

As weather tomorrow brings another day of contrasting conditions across the country, residents in heavy rainfall zones have been advised to stay updated with local weather advisories, avoid waterlogged areas and remain cautious in landslide-prone regions.
