Weather today October 8: Will there be heavy rain in Tamilnadu, Delhi? check IMD latest update

India Meteorological Department has put out latest forecast for October 8, and most of north, east and south India are expected to see rain in some form today. Tamil Nadu and Kerala are looking at heaviest spells, while Delhi, Patna, Lucknow and Odisha will get lighter, more scattered activity through day.

This comes even as southwest monsoon continues retreat from parts of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and Telangana, a sign that weather pattern across country is shifting into post monsoon phase for some regions while others are still catching heavy spells.

Delhi Weather Today

Delhi, along with Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad, Chandigarh and rest of Haryana and Punjab, is expected to see isolated rain and thunderstorms today. IMD has not placed capital under any heavy rain warning for October 8, so activity will likely stay limited to short spells with lightning rather than prolonged downpour.

Delhi NCR Rain And Wind Alert

Gusty winds reaching 30 to 40 kmph cannot be ruled out in parts of Delhi NCR today. Residents heading out should keep umbrella handy, though normal routine is not expected to be disrupted since no heavy rain alert has gone out for capital this week.

Tamil Nadu Weather Today

Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Puducherry and Karaikal are among areas getting most attention in today's bulletin. IMD has forecast fairly widespread to widespread rainfall across Tamil Nadu, making it one of two states, alongside Kerala, tagged for heaviest spells this week.

Chennai And Tamil Nadu Rain Forecast This Week

Isolated heavy rainfall is likely to continue in Chennai and other coastal districts into tomorrow as well, with thunderstorm and lightning activity expected right through October 13. Interior Tamil Nadu will see comparatively lighter showers, while gusty winds touching 40 kmph are possible along coast.

Patna Weather Today

Patna, along with rest of Bihar, was placed under heavy rainfall warning for October 7, and that spell is expected to taper into isolated rain today. Thunderstorm with gusty winds reaching 40 to 50 kmph was flagged for Patna and surrounding districts yesterday, and residual activity could still be felt this morning.

Bihar Rain Alert And Farm Advisory

IMD has not extended heavy rain warning for Patna or rest of Bihar beyond October 7, and remaining week looks largely isolated. Farmers across Bihar have already been advised to maintain drainage in rice, maize and vegetable fields to prevent water from standing too long.

Lucknow Weather Today

Lucknow, along with Kanpur, Varanasi, Ghazipur and rest of east Uttar Pradesh, saw isolated heavy rainfall yesterday and remains under scattered rain forecast for today. Thunderstorm and lightning risk continues in Lucknow, though wind speeds are expected to stay lower than previous day.

Uttar Pradesh Weather Update Today

West Uttar Pradesh, including Agra and Meerut belt, is seeing activity die down faster, with dry conditions likely to set in there within next 48 hours. East UP including Lucknow and Varanasi stays under isolated rain till October 10.

Odisha Weather Today

Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and rest of Odisha have isolated rain in forecast right through October 13, making it one of longer running spells in this bulletin. Thunderstorm and gusty winds up to 50 kmph were recorded across state yesterday, with similar activity, though slightly reduced, expected today.

Odisha has not been flagged for heavy rainfall today, but IMD has kept state under watch given how long this rain window stretches, with isolated spells expected to continue almost daily right up to October 13.

Jammu Kashmir Himachal Uttarakhand Weather Today

Srinagar, Jammu, Shimla and Dehradun belt continues to see thunderstorm activity with gusty winds touching 60 kmph in parts. Kerala, including Kochi and Kottayam, sharing spotlight with Tamil Nadu, is also seeing widespread rain today.

Northeast India Weather Today

Guwahati and rest of Assam, along with Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, have scattered rain and lightning forecast as well today, though nothing on scale of south India's spell.

IMD Advisory For Rain And Lightning Today

IMD advisory remains same across all regions seeing thunderstorm activity. People have been told to avoid sheltering under trees during lightning, stay away from water bodies and unplug electrical appliances where storm is active. Loose objects should be secured given gusty wind warnings, and travel through low lying or hilly stretches should be approached with caution.
