Why is southern India likely to receive continued rainfall?

According to the IMD, multiple weather systems are influencing conditions over southern India and adjoining areas.

An upper-air cyclonic circulation persists over the west-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining coasts of south Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Another circulation lies over North Interior Karnataka, while a trough extends from Lakshadweep to the west-central Bay of Bengal across Karnataka and south Andhra Pradesh.

A low-pressure area also formed over the southwest Arabian Sea at 8:30 am on October 18 under the influence of an upper-air cyclonic circulation. The system is likely to become more marked over the following 24 hours.

These weather systems are contributing to the forecast of continued rainfall, thunderstorms and gusty winds across parts of southern India.
